Chikankari Hand Embroidered Fabrics

Chikankari is an ancient needlecraft which comprises of various type of stitches. There are 32 types of stitches in Chikankari. Few among them are Bakhiya,Tepchi, Keel Kangan, Murri, Jaali, Phanda, Ghas Patti etc. Combinations of these stitches on the fabrics lend an elusive charm to them. Other adornments include Mukaish/ Kamdani work which can be both of silver and golden, Gotta patti and sequins work. 

The jaalis or trellises that are created in chikankari are a unique speciality of this craft. The holes are made by manipulation of the needle without cutting or drawing of thread.
